Welcome to my blog. I like most of you believe that we would be better off if we all used cleaner sources of energy. Don’t get me wrong, I do understand that our whole economy is based on fossil fuels and this will not change over night. The more each of us can do to support renewable/green products and services the sooner we can make this transition from one fuel source to others. I believe that there is not just one cure all renewable energy source. Each area of the country has it’s own natural resource like Sun, Wind, Geothermal or Hydro Power. Like most things in life it is a balance, by utilizing what occurs naturally and then supplementing additional needs with renewable technologies could provide more than enough power for all of us.
I am actively involved with the renewable energy community in San Diego, California. I will be looking for cutting edge products, break through in technology or just some great news about the renewable energy field. When I find something exciting I will be posting it on this Blog, so please check back and see what’s happening.
Another important part of saving energy is to reduce our consumption of energy. You can do this by just using less or by using more efficient tools, appliances, equipment or transportation. One of the most efficient renewable energy source is Solar Thermal. Solar Thermal products can convert up to 80% of the suns energy into usable heat. The Solar Forced Air Heaters that we offer on greenpowercompany.com is a great example of this. Another key strategy for using less is to buy more from local vendors and suppliers. This could range from vegetables and fruits that are grown locally to new business enterprises that shift from large production plants that truck their product(s) 100’s if not 1000’s of miles away to more localized production that supplies the local community. This is not an easy transition and actually will not work for some industries, but it does work for a lot of other industries. Little steps add up to big steps…so lets keep stepping forward.
