Dr FuelCell™ Science Kit Basic
The Dr FuelCell™ Science Kit – Basic is designed for a “hands on” experience with solar hydrogen energy technology for both student and teacher. The solar module converts radiant energy into electrical energy to power the electrolyzer. The electrolyzer breaks water into its basic constituents of hydrogen and oxygen. These gases are stored in the graduated cylinders. When electrical power is required, the PEM fuel cell recombines the stored gases to form water, and release heat and electricity.
The kit can be used individually, in small groups or as a classroom teaching tool. Twenty-five prepared General Science, Chemistry and Physics experiments can be carried out with this kit without the need of any additional components. Presented through student inquiry activities and written assignments, the experiments are designed to cover key curriculum topics of science.
All lessons correlated to the NSES, California, BC and Ontario Science Standards. It is also possible to add-in discussions surrounding the sustainable benefits of fuel cells and hydrogen technology. This not only make lessons topical and interesting for students but prepares them for this emerging new technology.
Included in the kit:
Used to power the electrolyzer
Requires only distilled water
Standard Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (
PEM)
Measurement box with voltmeter and ammeter, 2 electrical loads (lamp and electric motor), and 7 different adjustable resistance for characteristic curve analysis.
